Magnesium Taurate: The Heart-Leaning Option

Magnesium taurate combines magnesium with taurine, an amino acid with its own links to cardiovascular function. You’ll almost only ever hear it discussed in one context: heart health and blood pressure.

The evidence, kept in proportion: magnesium in general may lower blood pressure, though only by a small amount, according to the US National Institutes of Health. In 2022 the US FDA went as far as allowing a qualified claim that diets with adequate magnesium may reduce the risk of high blood pressure. Note what all of that is about, though — magnesium broadly, not taurate specifically. Direct trial data on this exact combination is scarce, so the heart case rests on magnesium’s general role plus taurine’s, stacked together.

If blood pressure is why you’re here, supplement alongside your doctor, not instead of one.

Best for: people focused on cardiovascular support who want a well-absorbed form.

Worth knowing: it's a smaller category. Expect fewer brands and a shorter shelf.
